Wave Coarsening Drives Time Crystallization in Mechatronic Metamaterials
Wave coarsening in one- and two-dimensional mechatronic metamaterials leads to synchronized time-crystalline states. Experiments and theory reveal growing wavelengths, periods and amplitudes, while friction arrests the process and produces edge-localized waves.
